“Wax Jax and the Midnight Snax perform with such a delectable hybrid sound of soul-jazz-funk-psych that to hear them play, you might well be transported to some kind of red room in Paris or Amsterdam...‘GOLD’ really is gold, a jewel nestled neatly at the bottom of the ocean.”

- Beat Magazine

Wax Jax and the Midnight Snax are a psychedelic funk rock group born out of one of the many ramshackle share houses in Melbourne’s inner east. Comprised of Gianni on drums, Hamish and Fred on guitar, Billy on the bass, Arlo on the Sax and Synth, and Ruby on vocals, the band is an illustration of the electrifying and unique. Their sound is born from contrasting musical worlds, celebrating a concoction of different genres, all intertwined under the desire to throw a damn good party.

They say that musical styles travel in cycles. Wax Jax and the Midnight Snax are an embodiment of this inspired musical time travel. With blissful enlivening guitars, groovy beats and roaring bass, the Snax’s sound envelopes the vast spaciousness of psychedelia; the high energy of rock ’n’ roll; and the intimate sensuality of soul. Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, and the more recent Tame Impala are just some of the influences that sow the seeds of The Snax’s songwriting.

"The groove laden deep-hip sashaying songs circle around the room enticing the listener to step out on to the floor and lose their body in the bending guitars and pulsing bass while the sultry vocal shimmers through the ears."
